Dean concentrates his practice on complex commercial and financial litigation, including contract disputes, business torts, intellectual property matters, construction, and healthcare. He also has represented clients in a broad range of matters involving New York State agencies, including Article 78 proceedings and challenges to agency action. Dean also represents clients in disputes arising from New York’s evolving adult-use cannabis regulatory framework.

Dean began his career at Clifford Chance in New York City, and then practiced in Boston with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault. He later served as Assistant General Counsel to Fresenius Medical Care, the world’s leading provider of dialysis products and services.

Dean is an adjunct professor at the Syracuse University College of Law, teaching courses in the Law and Practice of Electronic Discovery and Mediation Skills. Dean earned a B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania in 1995 and a J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1998 where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He lives in Syracuse with his wife, Amy, and their son, Major, and is actively involved in community programs supporting children with autism.
